Wrapping Dunes

In this window installation entitled Wrapping Dunes we take cues of glossy plastic forms from ‘omotenashi’ , a term coined in Japan for describing the action of wholehearted hospitality. This means paying meticulous attention to the wrapping of merchandise before handing over to a customer, a value local shoe label Christy Ng also holds dear.

Newcleus designed this 3-Dimensional landscape by creating a grid lattice of wave shaped acrylic sheets on floor level, locked in place by custom ‘+’ joints. Perforated steel steps and melted plastic on elevated podiums hold the shoes and bags on display. Suspended from the ceiling are more turquoise acrylic sheets, cut in wave forms and alternating in geometry, giving an impression of a mountain silhouette.
